Biker's influence map by Bikerbloke Biker's influence map by Bikerbloke
Seen these around a lot and like 'em. So I thought I'd try and shoehorn just a few of the bigger influences into my own map.
There were a lot that simply couldn't be fitted into those tiny squares. I actually feel guilty about leaving them out, like I'm doing them a disservice.

Anyway what I have shown is just the tip of the iceberg.

Run a search for Influence map and create your own using the blank. better yet have a look in my favourites, you'll find it in there.

Here's a list of those influences in case you're interested.

1: Benny Hill.
2: Bomber Nose Art.
3: Japanese art (Manga, Hentai, whatever)
4: Dave Stevens.
5: Steampunk Stuff, art, clothing, gadgets etc.
6: Golden Age Pin-up.
7: Gil Elvgren
8: Julias Zimmerman
9: Mike James
10: Black Patent Leather Highheels (and stockings)
11: Frank Cho's & Liberty Meadows Strip especially
12; Motorbikes (rat and "survival" bikes especially)
13: Dean Yeagle
14: Adam Hughes
15: The Matrix film Trilogy
16: Mad Max films

Benny Hill as number 1...very nice. I watched a biography program about him and was very pleased to find out that he was a kind and wonderful man who only wanted to make others laugh. Even my wonderful departed mother who was a truly devout christian in the best sense of the word loved his show.
"I don't know why everyone gets some upset about his show." she would say.
"It's just a joke."

Thanks! I put Benny Hill rightly first place because of the affect his humour and comic timing had over me as a growing kid and teenager in the 70's. Obviously his timing was understood until much later in my life when I realised what a rare thing he had. Compare that to current comedians who resort to swearing to get their laughs.
Glad you mum gave him the thumbs up then, sadly LWT (Uk TV company) dropped him once his contract and ended and I don't think he ever got over that rejection for all the years he'd been their bread winner.

The only comedian that I think comes close is Mike Myers/Austin Powers. He has a certain natural likability that allows him to use recycled jokes in all movies (similar to Benny Hill ) but you still laugh anyway.

I thought Bill Ward would be on there.

Good point, also missing are John Willie, Don Lawrence, Gil Kane but there simply wasn't enough room to cram them all in there and still make the thing legible. I did start making another one of these showing more influences of mine, just never got around to completing it.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Well,I mentioned Ward because, out of all the good-girl and pin-up artists I'm familiar with,he's the one whose artwork yours' most reminds me of.

Praise indeed. Thanks for the comparison, he did have something of an influence on me but I think it was Don Lawrence's Carrie cartoon found in the back of the men's magazine called Mayfair in the 70's and early 80's. Google "Don Lawrence Carrie." ... unless you're already familier with that artwork.

I am,actually...I discovered Mayfair in the late 80's.Little did I suspect that just a few years later, the magazine'd drop Carrie as they went hardcore.
